Creamy Sausage Pasta

  • 12 ounces (340g) of your favorite pasta (penne, spaghetti, or any type you prefer)
  • 4 Italian sausages (sweet or spicy, based on your preference)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) of diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

  • Instructions:
  • Cook the Pasta:
    • Cook the pasta according to the package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Drain and set aside.
  1. Cook the Sausages:

    • While the pasta is cooking, remove the sausages from their casings. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the sausage meat to the skillet and break it into small pieces with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the cooked sausage from the skillet and set it aside.
  2. Prepare the Sauce:

    • In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until it becomes translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds or until fragrant.
    • Pour in the diced tomatoes, chicken or vegetable broth, heavy cream, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
    • Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
    • Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Combine the Pasta and Sausage:

    • Add the cooked sausage back to the skillet and stir to combine. Let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  4. Serve:

    • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sausage and sauce. Toss everything
    • together to combine.

    • Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top and garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
  5. Enjoy:
